Free Legal Clinic for Those Applying for Citizenship

Seaside, California – A free legal clinic for individuals interested in applying for citizenship will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Gavilan College’s Hollister site, in the Briggs Building, located at 354 4th Street, Hollister, CA 95023. The clinic is sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Monterey; One Justice’s Justice Bus® Project; and Gavilan College.

Attorneys will be available to assist individuals at any stage of the naturalization application process. English language assessments will be provided on-site and staff will also be screening for exceptions to the English language component of the naturalization exam. Information regarding financial assistance will be available.

To receive assistance at the workshop, participants must bring all of the following:

1. A copy of your green card (both sides).
2. 2 photos (U.S. Passport style).
3. List of all of your trips out of the United States including departure and return dates.
4. List of addresses and employment and/or schools for the past five years including start and end dates.
5. If you are currently married; spouse’s full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, alien number (A#), date and place of naturalization, and current address.
6. Information about all your prior marriages and about all of your current spouse’s prior marriages; including date of marriage, date the marriage ended, and how marriage ended.
7. If you have children, their full name as it appears on birth certificate, dates of birth, residency card A#, and address.
8. Documentation of all arrests and/or convictions, including reason for the arrest, date, place, and outcome/disposition. Bring ALL arrest and court documents, even if the charges were dropped. # # #
